We
at JBCCS would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of
the late Albert Diamond.
Profile of Albert Diamond:
Albert Diamond was born in Waskaganish,
Quebec, formerly known as Rupert House on March 19, 1951. He
attended elementary and high school in different parts of Ontario which
then led to him spending two years at Trent University. During the
early 1970's he got involved with the litigation that the Crees of
Northern Quebec had initiated against the Quebec government. He
participated in the negotiation of the James Bay and Northern Quebec
agreement which eventually led to him becoming the first Treasurer of
the newly formed Grand Council of the Crees. His involvement in
the regional organizations of the Crees would continue with positions as
Chairman of the Board of Compensation, President of Creeco, President of
Valpiro, and President of Air Creebec. Most recently, he was named
as a trustee to the Cree Nation Trust and President of the Secretariat
to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance.
